The browser agent found the form. The quote still needs your say.
A browser agent can take some of the clicking out of an enquiry. You still decide what to promise the customer, and review the quote before it goes.
A plumber finishes a job, then checks a part on a supplier portal, looks for a slot on a booking page and replies to the customer by email. The enquiry is straightforward. Switching between sites takes up the time before the next job.
OpenAI says its Agents API can use a hosted browser to carry out computer tasks, with approval and sign-in controls. That moves beyond answering a question in a chat window. In a supervised task, an AI could move through pages and forms. OpenAI’s API changelog describes the capability.
What changes at a small-business desk
Finding the right page is one job. Knowing what to put in the fields is another. A browser agent might gather information or prepare an update, but it can misunderstand a page, choose the wrong option or miss details. A tidy result does not prove the customer got the right answer.
A quote carries more risk than a mis-click. Its price, timing and scope are your commitment. Your judgement matters when a job is unusual, details are uncertain or a promise would be costly to get wrong.
What the WorkMate crew handles
WorkMate’s named inbox and sales mates help sort enquiry information, prepare replies and keep follow-up from slipping during a busy day. They share one Brain, so details and corrections can carry across sessions. Outward-facing work follows a draft, review, send process. You approve each message before it goes out.
You use the crew as the product; there is no agent to set up or browser to configure. We do not claim it can already operate every third-party website or complete every browser workflow. Browser capability is developing across the industry, and support for a particular task depends on the product and connection involved.

Keep the decision with the person who knows the job
An AI mate can help with a standard answer or reminder, so it is less likely to sit untouched while you are busy. For a site visit, careful estimate or judgement call, the useful result is a clear draft for you to check. It should not send a message on your behalf without context.
When you watch a browser-agent demo, check what it did, what it changed and who reviewed the result. WorkMate has an activity log showing what ran and what it produced. Read the post about the follow-up nobody sent to see the same problem from the customer’s side, or what an AI desk can mean for a two-person business.

Model news matters because more routine web work may become possible. You still need to know what you are promising. A sensible aim for the week is fewer missed enquiries and less admin between jobs, with the final say yours.
