The job changed on site. Did every mate hear?

The WorkMate team · 4 min read · 20 October 2026

The customer moves the socket after you start work. You tell one person and get back to the tools. Later, the quote, job note or customer update still shows the old detail. Then you spend time checking, correcting and explaining a change that should have reached the whole crew.

Corrections can get lost between jobs

Small building firms rarely have a quiet desk and a full office team. The owner might be on site, answering calls between tasks, while someone else handles an enquiry or prepares paperwork. A correction shared in a quick call or message can remain in that conversation.

The Federation of Master Builders found that nearly a quarter of construction SMEs in its survey had waited more than four months for payment, and fewer than a third were always paid within 30 days. Late payment had led 30% of firms to delay paying suppliers and 16% to borrow extra funds. These figures describe payment pressure, not the cost of a missed job note. They do show why details affecting work, suppliers and customer communication need care. Federation of Master Builders.

Tell the crew once

WorkMate OS has named AI teammates with different jobs, all reading and writing to one shared Brain. Tell the crew the customer has changed the socket location, or that the agreed access time is different. Mates preparing job information or a customer update can then use the correction, even in a later session.

You do not have to repeat the detail to each mate or hope the next conversation includes the full history. If it changes again, share the correction and the Brain can carry the updated version across the crew.

Memory helps, approval still matters

A shared Brain makes a correction available, but you still decide whether it is accurate and what should be sent. Outward-facing work follows draft, review and send. The owner approves messages before they go to a customer.

That matters when a change affects what was agreed, what the customer should expect or what a supplier needs to know. The crew can prepare a draft with the corrected detail. You review it before it leaves.

How it fits into your week

You do not need to set anything up for the mates to remember a correction. The shared Brain comes with the WorkMate OS crew. Tell them once and they can work from the same memory. You remain responsible for checking important details and approving messages to customers.
